I provide therapy to teens and adults in Illinois & Colorado
People live more fully when they can fully see themselves
Ryan Canfield, LCPC (IL) & LPC (CO)
I’m Ryan Canfield and I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado providing therapy for teens and adults. I opened Still Ridge after over 15 years of watching change happen in real time across wilderness settings, arts education programs, and working closely with teenagers, young adults, and their families in Illinois and Colorado.
Those experiences became an education in what actually moves people: the relationships they build, the moments that create a deeper connection to themselves, and what becomes possible when they start to show up differently in life.
Stillness didn't come naturally to me. It took time, and more than a few detours, to learn to slow down and catch up to life. The outdoors was the only thing that ever really got me there. There's something about being in the presence of something that big and that indifferent that has a way of humbling you into the present moment.
My approach
For me, the relationship is the work. People live more fully when they can fully see themselves, and most of the time that starts by letting someone else see them first. I use the therapeutic relationship to help clients dig deeper not just to understand where they've been, but to move differently from where they are.
I pull from a range of modalities including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches that attend to the whole person. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy and work with each client to find what works for them.
